Biography

Joseph the Worker is venerated as the earthly father of Jesus Christ, whose feast day emphasizes his role as hardworking craftsman and protector of the Holy Family. Though the Gospels provide limited biographical details, early Christian tradition and apocryphal accounts present Joseph as a righteous, God-fearing carpenter from Nazareth. He accepted the miraculous circumstances of Jesus's conception with faith, protected Mary and the infant Jesus from Herod's persecution by fleeing to Egypt, and raised Jesus in the carpenter's trade.
