Biografia

Giuseppe Moscati (1880-1927) was an Italian physician and Catholic convert who revolutionized medical practice through his integration of faith and science. Born in Naples to a prominent family, he earned his medical degree and became a leading pathologist and clinician, renowned for his diagnostic brilliance and innovative treatments. Despite his professional success, Moscati maintained deep humility, treating poor patients with the same dedication as wealthy ones, often waiving fees for the indigent. He established charitable medical centers and taught at the University of Naples while conducting pioneering research. Moscati's spiritual life intensified throughout his career; he prayed before each patient examination and saw medicine as a divine calling. His sudden death from a heart attack at age 46 shocked Naples, yet his legacy endured through his example of sanctity in the medical profession. Pope John Paul II canonized him in 1987, recognizing him as a model for healthcare professionals integrating faith with their vocation.
