Životopis

Quirinus of Siscia (died 309) was a Christian martyr who served as a soldier in the Roman legions during the reign of Emperor Galerius, a particularly brutal persecutor of Christians. According to traditional accounts, Quirinus was a high-ranking military officer who refused to participate in pagan religious ceremonies and refused to renounce his Christian faith despite extreme pressure and torture. His steadfast refusal to abandon Christ, even when faced with death, exemplified the virtues of martyrdom and unwavering conviction. Quirinus was ultimately executed for his faith, becoming a witness to Christian truth during one of the most severe periods of persecution in the early Church. His martyrdom in Siscia (modern-day Sisak in Croatia) strengthened the local Christian community and inspired subsequent generations. Though historical details are sparse, his veneration reflects the early Church's deep respect for those who chose death rather than deny their faith in Christ.
