Životopis

Nectarios (1846-1920) was a Greek Orthodox bishop and saint known for extraordinary healing miracles and pastoral devotion. Born Anastasios Kephalas, he served as bishop of Pentapolis and later as a monk on the island of Aegina. Despite facing ecclesiastical challenges and being removed from his episcopal position, Nectarios maintained unwavering faith and profound spiritual power. He founded a convent dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin and served as its abbot, creating a spiritual center of healing and prayer. Numerous miracles—healings from terminal illnesses, impossible cases resolved through his intercession—surrounded his ministry. He performed these works with humble gentleness, always directing glory to God rather than accepting personal credit. Nectarios combined administrative competence with deep spirituality, establishing educational and charitable institutions. After his death, his grave became a place of pilgrimage where miraculous healings continued. Canonized in 1961, he is among the most widely venerated modern Orthodox saints, celebrated for manifesting Christ's healing power with remarkable consistency.
