Biografía

Justin Popović (1894-1979) was a Serbian Orthodox monk, theologian, and philosopher renowned for integrating patristic theology with contemporary thought. A student of outstanding theological education, he became a monk at Ćelije Monastery and devoted his life to theological scholarship and spiritual direction. Father Justin developed a comprehensive critique of Western philosophy and modernism from an Orthodox perspective, arguing for the recovery of patristic thought in the modern world. He authored significant works on the Fathers of the Church, dogmatic theology, and the spiritual life, emphasizing theosis (deification) as Christianity's central goal. His teaching combined rigorous intellectual analysis with profound spiritual insight, attracting numerous spiritual children and influencing Orthodox theological discourse. Justin remained committed to monastic life and contemplative prayer while engaging deeply with intellectual questions, demonstrating that authentic Christianity requires both the mind and the heart.
