Biography

Michael the Archangel is one of the most prominent figures in Christian theology and appears throughout Scripture. His name means 'Who is like God?' reflecting his role as God's chief warrior against evil. In the Book of Daniel, he is depicted as Israel's protector and advocate. The Book of Revelation describes Michael leading God's armies against Satan and his demons, casting them out of heaven. Traditionally, Michael is understood as the first of God's archangels and the commander of the heavenly forces. He is venerated in both Eastern and Western Christianity and appears frequently in Christian art, typically depicted in armor with a sword or spear, standing triumphantly over Satan or a demon. Michael's feast day celebrates his victory and his intercession on behalf of God's people against spiritual evil. He remains a powerful symbol of divine protection.
